Ladies and gentlemen, it’s only Sunday night and it’s already been a big day as far as the rumor mill (those confirmed and still up in the air) are concerned regarding the media that will be shown at the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo.

And in 24 hours’ time, I will be touching down in Los Angeles.

I was going to make a video regarding this, but Swordy and I have been busy with our family’s new puppy! Video on that later.

SOME THINGS OF NOTE REGARDING SMYN, THE EXPO, AND YOU!

– Feel free to use our new IRC chat that is built into the Welcome Wagon section of the forums, thanks to TheBuzzSaw: [url]http://www.showmeyournews.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=2[/url] – definitely use this while you’re watching the major press briefings so that you can discuss the latest tidbits with podcast fans! No registration is required to use that chat, so spread the word to your gaming friends! We’d love to use this amazing feature more often, but let’s start it off with a bang at E3!

– If you want to live the expo vicariously through me, you will HAVE to follow Show Me Your News on Twitter! No exceptions there. While I won’t be able to get out breaking news like IGN, GameTrailers, etc, you’ll be up-to-date on what I am up to at the show, what I’m in line, and what I just finished playing the demo for! And if you’re a member of Twitter and have unlimited texts, remember to turn on the mobile option for SMYN’s account so the updates can be sent right to your phone! Exciting!

– THINGS TO REMEMBER…I won’t necessarily be up to date on the latest breaking news at the show because I’ll either be traveling, have a lack of wi-fi, and won’t have a TV in front of me. Also, I am not going as press (and thus will try to be under the radar), so there’s hardly any chance of me recruiting any big names for the podcast. Additionally, I will try to take some video for an “experience” montage after the fact, but I don’t know what the restrictions are, so you shouldn’t hold me to that either. BASICALLY, I don’t know what to expect, but all I know is I’m going to try to do as much as I can to bring back as much as I can in the form of impressions for you guys.

This is my karma being repaid for putting in almost three years to this show with little compensation. And lemme tell ya, it’s certainly not free for me to go this thing, either. Enjoy the show, and I’ll catch up with you all and your feedback when I return!

Don’t be jealous of me. Be happy for the podcast.

When I had the idea for the SMYN YouTube Resurgathon contest, it was the idea to look for the “most creative, heartfelt, and dedicated expression of Show Me Your News fandom” in the form of a YouTube video. And each submission made me happy to see podcast fans express themselves in some way! I know each entry had lots of hard work and love behind in it.

However, the time has come to announce the winner of contest! This means nothing bad against the other entries and if you didn’t submit something for the contest, you still should upload it to YouTube to spread the SMYN word!

After MUCH deliberation, the winner of the contest is…

THEDOBAGA!

If any of you were wondering, Zycor’s entry was the runner-up for the contest and I had great difficulty deciding between the two. The Pokemon music video is an interesting creative form that has recently popped up on YouTube and to see the well-known Choppa Choppa expressed in this format was certainly a treat! The editing was very well done and you could tell that a lot of effort was put into the final product, which is something I can really appreciate and relate to.

However, if you think that it seemed like TheDobaga’s video didn’t have as much effort behind it as Zycor’s, then I suppose you have to see it from my perspective. What ultimately gave TheDobaga the slight edge was the HEARTFELT DEDICATION behind it. I always enjoy hearing how Show Me Your News has changed someone’s life and the messages in this video made it one of the most shining examples of how much of an impact the podcast has made.

I mean, finding the show via a random button? Making someone laugh? Considering us in the (now defunct) Super Smash Flash 2? Introducing someone to competitive Smash? To subbed Japanese anime? To learn another language? To want to work in the gaming industry? To consider gaming music as a legitimate art form?

Ultimately, the goal for Show Me Your News is to intelligently inform and have a good time while doing so. But whenever it goes beyond that, it reminds me of why I made the right choice starting the show almost three years ago.

So everyone congratulate TheDobaga! And congratulate the other entries, while you’re at it! This show would be nowhere without the dedication of fans like you!

Hopefully we’ll see TheDobaga on the show sometime next weekend – and I’ll leave you with his video for you to watch…

Is ANYBODY excited for Pokémon Heart Gold/Soul Silver?

As it would have it, we will likely have an SMYN Episode on March 14th (the release date of HG/SS) with established Poké and podcast fan NinjaLink. Details still have to be worked out (like official time) before we officially announce it, but it will be SMYN’s first ever Pokécast!! It has been established before that the franchise is very near and dear to my heart, so what better time to dedicate an episode to it than the North American launch of a current-gen remake of the best generation of Pokémon of all time!

However, we need suggestions for TOPICS OF DISCUSSION from other Pokéfans regarding what you want to hear about regarding Heart Gold/Soul Silver. A couple pointers…

– We will try to make the episode interesting for those that have never played Pokémon before, but there may be certain things that go over new players’ heads.

– We cannot promise to be spoiler-free. While you’ve probably played the original Gold/Silver before, there are a few small changes this time around that are worth noting (particularly how the newer generations are involved) that we will likely report. The idea is for this episode to be a FULL GUIDE to all the game has to offer!

– We can absolutely delve into the aspects of competitive Pokémon! I myself am learning the tips and tricks behind EV Training just to gear up for this part of the episode. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to make that perfect Pokémon to dominate all your friends (and even tournament-goers at The Airship) with, this will be the episode for you!

This is just a taste of what the Pokécast has to offer! But it needs your help as far as what you want to hear regarding one of the biggest Nintendo DS launches this year!

Do you want to be a guest on Episode 60 of Show Me Your News?

I am proud to announce the latest contest for Show Me Your News. First there was the Top Ten Moments contest (won by Cyberlink420), then there was the Fan Art contest (won by SporkNinjaDraken), but now we have the YouTube Resurgathon contest…and the winner could be YOU!

Now, “resurgathon” sounds like a word that could go in the SMYN Dictionary…and that’s true, it totally could. Very simply, we need a massive resurgence in SMYN’s presence online after the MLG debacle. Granted, the secret national event that will be unveiled during Episode 57 next weekend should help with that. But what better way to expand the podcast’s online existence than by YouTube expansion! To put it bluntly, we need a lot of awesome things to pop up when people search for “Show Me Your News” or “SMYN” – and you all can provide that material!

So, what I am looking for is the most creative, heartfelt, and dedicated expression of Show Me Your News fandom! However you go about this is your choice, but it must be in the form of ONE YOUTUBE VIDEO (so no multiple-parts…that’s just unfair to other contestants). However, you are allowed and ENCOURAGED to have as many submissions as you want. The more you submit, the better chance you have of winning!

Possible options/requirements for submission ideas:
– A video that portrays how SMYN has impacted your life (your typical fan appreciation video)
– Your favorite moment from SMYN visualized (preferably with only original sound from the episode, with your acting/portrayal supporting it)
– A song created for the podcast (lyrics would taken the most into consideration when judging)
– Reading an essay (or fanfiction, or whatever) that you wrote regarding SMYN (specific topic is your choice, preferably greater than 1,000 words)
– Another top ten moments video (will be significantly marked down if you borrow heavily from my list Ep. 44…make your own list)
– Any combination of these
– Your own YouTube portrayal of why you are the fan that deserves to be on the podcast!

Preference will be given to those who have never been a guest on the show before, but this does not exclude guests who have been on before from winning.

SUBMISSIONS MUST BE POSTED IN THIS THREAD HERE (will be added to first post once submitted)

Videos must be submitted no later than MARCH 31st! Winner will be announced in the week after for a mid-April recording of Episode 60 of Show Me Your News! It is heavily implied that if you enter the contest, you are technically able to podcast with Youko (i.e. have a microphone, Skype, no parental restrictions, etc.).

In the meanwhile, we are going to revamp other portions of the site as well. Guest bios, easter eggs, if you think of any other things you want added, LET US KNOW!

Basically, we need to fine-tune this place on a web front…why? You’ll find out soon enough.

Today is a big day for “Show Me Your News”…a turning point, even.

First of all, it is the two-year anniversary of the day I posted the very first podcast on smashboards.com. A momentous day indeed.

Second, today is the publishing date of the pilot episode of the new video podcast format for “Show Me Your News.” These episode is just over 34 minutes long. We have high hopes for this – an audio file will be released as well, so you can listen to this on the go, but releasing the videos will be spread out throughout the day for a couple of reasons.

1) We’re trying to work with uploading them in “HD” on Youtube. As a result, this process takes a couple hours per video.
2) I have class and I am also driving home for the weekend. As a result, I won’t be able to access my computer at certain points in the day.
