Here at SMYN, there are certain things that the entire community as a whole gets very excited about. When that happens, I usually pose questions in a countdown format for the last week for everyone to give feedback on. So, like I did with Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver and Black/White, I will be posing questions for the Nintendo 3DS, due March 27th.

ONLY FIVE MORE DAYS!!

My answer to yesterday’s question:
I have an Aqua Blue 3DS pre-ordered at Toys R Us and I actually requested to work an opening shift on that Sunday. Not only do I know the most about the 3DS out of anyone working there, but I want to get there early and set mine aside. Fortunately, I’ll be done for the day at 2, so I’ll probably head back and do some livestreaming after. Anyway, I’m buying a 3DS because of how amazed I was when I first saw it at E3 and also because I never upgraded to a DSi. My pink Phantom Hourglass DS Lite is great and all, but there are too many overall upgrades to ignore with the 3DS.

TODAY’S QUESTION:

We all know that the launch lineup for the 3DS is rather weak because Nintendo is trying to emphasize the fact that they have massive third-party support for the hardware. That said, which game(s) will you/would you be picking up at launch?

TODAY’S QUESTION:

Let’s find out who’s hyped for the device! Who will be buying the Nintendo 3DS on launch day, so we can all trade friend codes? Why are you buying Nintendo’s latest handheld?

Peter “Youko” Spezia
Editor-in-Chief, Show Me Your News

Through three and a half years, eighty-two episodes, and speaking hours on end for the video gaming podcast known as “Show Me Your News,” most listeners have a general idea of where my gaming preferences lie. Even though the podcast initially began as a way to recap the latest news regarding Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008) for the Nintendo Wii, and my love for all types of games knows no bounds, the franchise that is closest to my heart is Pokémon. Maybe it’s the nostalgia from popping Pokémon Blue (1998) into my Game Boy Color as the first video game I ever owned, or it’s the hours I spent watching the anime on Kids WB, but my passion for Pocket Monsters seemingly knows no bounds. So when a fan of Show Me Your News asked me to explain something I mentioned on the show in greater detail, I figured that a write-up was the easiest way to do so. Admittedly, for a podcast whose total length now exceeds three days of audio, writing up features isn’t something I usually do for showmeyournews.com, when I’m so used to vocalizing my mind on the latest in the gaming world. In this case, however, there is a lot of information to digest, and typing it all out allows me to present things concisely.

PURPOSE

With that said, the purpose of this feature is to give Pokémon players a simple, straight-forward beginner’s guide on how to raise the best Pokémon they can, without taking up tons of time or using a program like Pokésav to automatically generate your ideal Pokémon. The goal is to put forth enough effort so that your Pokémon feels well-earned and not cheaply made. In the end, as great as Pokémon battles can be, everyone knows that when it all comes down to it, winning is ultimately the most important thing. At the same time, though, having Pokémon that you are proud of is a special feeling altogether.

ONLY TWO MORE DAYS!!

My answer to yesterday’s question:
Early on in the game, Low Sweep is SO good. 60 base fighting move, automatically lowers foe’s speed, with 20 PP. I also like the concept of Electro Ball, dealing damage based on how much faster you are than your opponent, although it probably won’t be that useful in competitive play.

TODAY’S QUESTION:

All right, very simple question, straight to the point. Even though I’m sure it will be subject to change, give me your ideal final party. Must include all Unova-region Pokémon! LIST

ONLY THREE MORE DAYS!!

My answer to yesterday’s question:
I like Skyla. What can I say, she’s a cutie, just like how Flannery is my favorite Gen III leader. Plus, Skyla’s Gym design is interesting, which also leads to a pretty amusing moment, for a Pokémon game’s standards.

TODAY’S QUESTION:

With every new generation of Pokémon, we all have to learn a set of brand new attacks! Yes, it is a pain, but we all adapt rather quickly. With that said, what is your favorite new attack? LINK TO NEW ATTACK LIST

ONLY FOUR MORE DAYS!!

My answer to yesterday’s question:
Dream World is going to be amazing with all the new abilities, plus the ability to store Pokémon online. However, my most anticipated feature is random wi-fi battles. I mean, why don’t they hype this up more? Are they just embarrassed that this is a feature that should have been included starting with Diamond/Pearl? Well, it’s been a long time coming and I can’t WAIT to battle random trainers online.

TODAY’S QUESTION:

Gym Leaders are a very important part of Pokémon games, and Black/White’s bosses are no exception, with some new structure changes in the first and eighth gyms. Which leader is your favorite at this point and why? LINK WITH NO PARTY SPOILERS

ONLY FIVE MORE DAYS!!

My answer to yesterday’s question:
VS Team Plasma theme is my favorite so far. Everything about it screams “catchy.” The new VS Gym Leader theme is amazing, too. And like I said yesterday, the additions of “In a Pinch” and “Gym Leader’s Secret Weapon” are the best additions they’ve ever made to a Pokémon soundtrack.

TODAY’S QUESTION:

There are many new additions and features to Pokémon Black and White – High Link, Dream World, C-Gear, an overarching story, and SO much more! What new feature makes you the most excited and why?

ONLY SIX MORE DAYS!!

My answer to yesterday’s question:
Zebstrika is one of my favorites. An electric type whose line learns a fire move? That’s all sorts of cool. I’m not too crazy on Audino, though. A Clefable lookalike, if you ask me, whose moveset is junk. However, the experience output? Off the charts CRAZY.

TODAY’S QUESTION:

Many of you have probably heard some of the soundtrack from Pokémon Black and White already. If not, find some tracks on YouTube. Do you have a favorite song yet?

Today is the fifteenth anniversary of Pokémon! On February 27th, 1996, Pokémon Green and Blue RED were launched in Japan!

Anyhow, for each day until the release of Pokémon Black and White, like I did with HG/SS, I will be posing a question for the community to give their feedback on.
