I wanted to give Fire Emblem: Awakening a chance.

After all, I tried XCOM: Enemy Unknown and could not find myself remotely invested in the award-winning game after an hour of play. Maybe turn-based, grid-designed strategy games were just not for me. I even admitted this much on the most recent episode of Wut R U Playn.

But SMYNjas convinced me to give the latest Fire Emblem a try. This was one of their favorite Nintendo franchises. The game was getting amazing reviews. It was one of the best games on the 3DS to date. There were three difficulty levels and a Casual/Classic mode distinction. It was the ideal game to start with for beginners. These are all very compelling reasons to buy the game, so I did so digitally, with a lack of supply in stores at the time of purchase. What was my experience like? Find out after the break!

We are less than 48 hours away from Sony’s teased “Future of PlayStation” press conference in New York City. A stream will be shown across the web live on Wednesday, February 20th at 6 PM ET (3 PM PT). Multiple sources are reporting that this will feature the reveal of Sony’s next home gaming console, to succeed the PlayStation 3. The anticipation is palpable. As a gamer, the more I use Sony’s PS3 and PlayStation Vita, the more I find myself excited for this event. While this was discussed on the latest episode of Show Me Your News, I figured it was a good idea to take a look in blog form at the things that should be unveiled for a SUCCESSFUL reveal of PlayStation’s future. Read these after the break!

WTFP Riffs begins with our current production of Pokémon: The Movie 3 – Spell of the Unown. While we watched the movie for the first time in years, we recorded our live commentary, as if the microphone was not there. We were pleasantly surprised that this resulted in the same kind of critical analysis and joke-making that we have always prided ourselves on, while watching Pokémon all these years! While others have riffed films in the past, it is important to emphasize what the end goal of our particular commentary is. It is only a stepping stone to the final, well-crafted video that we create. Our goal in releasing these WTFP Riffs for download is to show you just what it’s like to be in the room with us as we begin the creative process.
